This course emphasizes the use of vector algebra and numerical methods to solve problems in engineering dynamics. The course begins with a description of the topic of engineering dynamics and its place in the broader subject of engineering mechanics. The course then moves into dynamics of particle motion, dynamics of multiparticle systems, planar kinematics of rigid bodies, planar kinetics of rigid bodies, and vibrations of a particle.

Engineering seniors, operating in design teams, apply principles of the design process to create a product or process to meet the needs of a customer. Projects may originate in industry, as a contest sponsored by a professional society, or in other venues. Design projects usually result in a deliverable prototype.
